Tools like Loom and Screen Studio are good, but they are subscriptions and your recordings pass through someone else's server before they land on your hard drive. I built Beam to do the same job entirely on your machine: no account, no cloud upload, nothing leaving your PC. Capture full screen, a single window, or a custom region. A draggable webcam bubble composites automatically. Auto-zoom follows your clicks, with optional click ripples and a keystroke overlay for tutorials. Trim in a real editor, export to MP4 or GIF, copy to clipboard, or run offline AI transcription with a local Whisper model. Global hotkeys, mic and system audio, quality presets, and GitHub-only update checks. macOS and Linux builds are next; the core is already cross-platform Electron.
